Mission - Academy for Mathematics & Science
The mission of the Academy of Mathematics & Science is to provide every student with the ability to achieve maximum success in education. The firm foundations we help build today open the doors to a lifetime of learning, leadership, and personal growth. We actively encourage our students and parents to drop us a line. Below is a random sampling of what a few of our students and parents have said about their experience. August 2006 Dear Academy for Mathematics and Science, Thank you for sending me a card for my 11th birthday. I really appreciate it. I am doing well and I hope you guys are, too. I´m doing "EXCELLENT" in school on my last report card. I got all A´s and B´s. Now, I´m on my way to Grade 6 French Immersion …yay! I love French. I have to tell you the truth I really miss Cindy´s awesome tutoring. On my last math test I got 98%, my teacher and my family were so impressed with me! Well, I have to go now to put this letter in the mail. Karen, if you have the time I would like to hear from you every month, to tell me how things are going. Bye!
Love, December 2005 They enjoy the classes and are extremely pleased with the overall concepts. The Academy is extremely accommodating. Parent of Grade 5 Students March 2006 So far, so good! There has been improvement in Math and English for both kids. One of them is not as hesitant about writing things on paper as he was prior to his enrolment. Parent of Grade 4 and 5 Students November 2005 Since my daughter has joined your academy she has improved immensely. Not only in her grades but also in her self-confidence. She went from a F to a C in a matter of six weeks. She is doing absolutely wonderful in school and her Math is one of her favorite subjects now. Thank you Karen and Cindy for being there to get her and myself through a difficult time. Sincerely, May 2006 I really enjoy being in the Academy. I made friends and actually had fun learning, which from the beginning, I thought that I would never have. Grade 7 student March 2006 I think that this tutoring program is very helpful. It has improved my mark from a 26 to a 45, it may not be a passing mark but I´m still proud that it went up rather than going down. I really didn´t think that it would go up but this program made me get the confidence to do it! Thanks to Karen, Cindy, Kerry and all the rest that are making a difference! Grade 8 student June 2005 I found that while I was there, most of the people helped me really well. I really enjoyed being there and it did help me understand stuff I didn´t know before. Grade 9 Student TopApril 2006 The Academy for Mathematics and Science has been an unbelievable source of help and encouragement, not only for the student but for the parent as well. This is from a parent who would spend hours each night from the time school would begin in September until it ended in June. I believe that the Academy has been the best thing to open in Bay Roberts. Since being enrolled in the Academy the independence and confidence that my daughter has gained is amazing, and it has built up her self-esteem to the point where I no longer have to sit each night to help her with homework unless she doesn´t understand a problem or question. When there are upcoming exams, the staff will provide extra classes for the students and prepare them for their exams. Parent of a Grade 10 Student. November 2005 I always have a good and educational time when I come up to the Academy and since last year, my average in chemistry is rising.
